Day 2 of the Great Britain XI tour - Scarborough to Edinburgh. Flying Scotsman worked the Scarborough to York leg. British India Line worked York to Carlisle. Leander and Galatea worked Carlisle to Edinburgh. British India Line's inaugural working over the S&C following restoration from Barry scrapyard condition. Headboard moved to lower position at Appleby to allow removal below overhead wires at Carlisle.

Having watered at Appleby, British India Line continues the Scarborough to Edinburgh leg of the Great Britain XI tour through the Eden Valley, passing Fiddlers Lane, Lazonby. During the water stop at Appleby, the headboard has been moved to a lower position, allowing it to be then removed under the wires at Carlisle when the Merchant Navy would give way to a pair of Jubilees.British India Line deep in the Eden Valley
