We took a chance that a brief stop would be taken at Appleby and got round to see Scots Guardsman crossing the old A66 Copyright David Price No unauthorised use please46115 leaving Appleby

Due to the failure of the electric locomotive in London, the Cumbrian Mountain Express working of 22nd April 2017 was heavily delayed and ended up being hauled to the north by a Class 47 diesel instead. Fortunate for the photographer, the latter part of the afternoon resulted in clearing skies and stunning lighting conditions. 46115 'Scots Guardsman' is seen some 95 minutes late passing Gallansay with the return leg. Having done this shot 3 times in three quarter sun, I'm very pleased to finally get it in full sun, particularly with this loco and rake of matching stock.Scots Guardsman at Gallansay
