30777 'Sir Lamiel' climbs through Langcliffe with 'The Dalesman' from Hellifield to Carlisle on the 27th August 2006. It seems like a long time since Sir Lamiel was on the main line.KIng Arthur On The S&C.

Rewind just over a decade from the time of this posting, 'The Dalesman' was promoted by Kingfisher Railtours, rather than West Coast Railways of todays incarnation and Sir Lamiel was out and about on the mainline, putting in a handful of appearances over the S&C. This is an early digital era photo, so not particularly high quality, but it is one of the few times I've witnessed any kind of exhaust on this downhill stretch crossing Smardale Viaduct.
