Leander detached to rescue failed diesel No.40179 on a goods train between Kirkby Stephen and Garsdale. 5690 ran wrong line from Kirkby Stephen to Garsdale, then backed onto the failed train, pulling it to Garsdale, before returning back to Kirkby Stephen. 4472 was due to take the train from Skipton to Carnforth, but to reduce the delay it instead did so from Hellifield.
